Beaty Biodiversity Museum

Vancouver’s natural history museum, dedicated to enhancing the appreciation of biodiversity.

Vancouver (beyond downtown)

With more than 500 exhibits across 20,000 square feet, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum invites you to explore the incredible connections that shape life on Earth—from tiny insects to towering marine giants. Look up and come face-to-face with the awe-inspiring 26-metre blue whale skeleton suspended in the atrium. Throughout the museum, you’ll encounter fossils, dinosaur trackways from British Columbia’s early Cretaceous period, birds, mammals, plants, and countless other specimens drawn from a remarkable collection of more than two million specimens. Get hands-on in the Allan Yap Discovery Lab, watch a documentary in the Allan Yap Theatre, and experience rotating art exhibitions that bring new perspectives to biodiversity in British Columbia and around the world. Before you leave, stop by the museum shop for unique nature-inspired gifts and prints from the collection. Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people, the museum also highlights Indigenous perspectives on biodiversity through the exhibition Culture at the Centre, sharing knowledge from six First Nations communities.
