From Biodiversity to the Stars: A Science Lover's Guide to Vancouver

Day two kicks off at Science World, one of Vancouver's most beloved landmarks. That iconic geodesic dome sitting on the edge of False Creek is hard to miss, and what is inside is even better than the view from outside!

Science World is built for curiosity. Hands-on exhibits cover everything from the human body to the physics of everyday life. There are dedicated spaces for younger children as well as exhibits that will challenge and engage adults. 

After Science World, head over to the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre in Vanier Park for a look at the universe beyond our planet. This is where astronomy becomes accessible and awe-inspiring for everyone!

The Space Centre features a planetarium, live shows, interactive galleries, and even a ground-level telescope for clear-night viewing. The shows in the dome theatre are captivating, covering topics like black holes, the solar system, and the history of space exploration. It is the perfect way to wrap up a day of science and end the evening staring up at the stars.

Traveling up the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway to the Britannia Mine Museum is absolutely worth the trip. Located about 40 minutes north of Vancouver near Squamish, this National Historic Site tells the story of what was once the largest copper mine in the British Commonwealth.

You can ride an underground train into the mine itself, pan for gold, and explore fascinating exhibits about the geology and history of the region. It is hands-on, educational, and interesting for all ages. The drive up alone, with views of Howe Sound along the way, makes the outing feel like a special adventure.
